| Kung Fu has always been a way of life for Sifu Thomas Tang. As a young child, he had always desired to learn Kung fu. In 1977 he started practicing Shaolin Chow Gar Kung fu at Yun Yee Tong martial arts and lion dance troupe in Viet Nam, taught by Lau Kim Cheung. After more than 14 years of effort and training in Chow gar Kung Fu, Sifu Thomas Tang was promoted to Senior Instructor in academy to help Lau Kim Cheung promoting Chow Gar Kung fu and he was acknowledged as the first disciples of Lau Kim Cheung. Sifu Thomas Tang also received special guidance from Lau Siu Jen (Lau Kim Cheung’s older sister) in traditional Southern & Northern Lion and Dragon dance. In addition, he learned Qigong and Com Na San Shou from Lau wing Cheung and Chan Kow. Sifu Thomas Tang immigrated to the United States in 1991 and settled in San Jose, California. He continues to pursue his ambition to promote Chow Gar Kung Fu in the USA. After a few years of preparation, in 1995 he established the first Yun Yee Tong Shaolin Chow Gar Kung Fu, Southern & Northern Lion & Dragon dance group in San Jose, California. |
